Fairy Tales for Camels

2019, Colour Video. 4 minutes, english

This video is part of a performance in which I read night fairy tales to camels after their workday. The desert night turns into an artistic space, inspired by Kurt Vonnegut’s Cat’s Cradle and by the idea of storytelling as a cultural force.

The animals listen to Cinderella — a story usually addressed to children, which here becomes an incantation, a cultural instrument forming imagination and patterns of behavior.

In this address — to the animals, to the land of an ancient civilization where traditions collide with contemporary processes of Europeanization — arises a reflection on cultural transmission, on the fragility of memory, and on the tension between continuity and external influence.
