Sonner et voler

2021, Colour Video. 14 minutes, french

The film is based on the works of Daniil Kharms, in particular his collection of short stories Sonner et voler (Gallimard, 1976). His texts — fragmentary, abrupt, filled with irony and unpredictability — seem to open a space of paradox within the very flow of everyday life.

In the film they appear as a news broadcast: an anchor reads his stories, turning them into a chronicle where the boundaries between fact and fiction dissolve. Each short phrase becomes the rhythm of an absurd world, where laughter and unease coexist, and the familiar suddenly turns into strangeness.

What emerges is a vivid and ironic gesture, where Kharms’s texts continue to exist in a new medium — as a reflection of that fragile threshold on which everyday life loses its order and reveals its hidden illogic.
